Outdoor Learning
Every class has at least one Outdoor Learning session each week with their class teacher. The sessions may be linked to the current topic, designed to develop one of our school's 'Learning Behaviours' or with a focus on health and wellbeing. The children are encouraged to use the different areas within The Spinney, our designated outdoor learning area. They may dig, climb, create, imagine, problem-solve, make decisions about risk, collaborate or 'just' play. Some sessions may utilise skills from a Forest School approach such as using simple tools, flora and fauna identification or using a fire to prepare food and drink.
Children are asked to come with appropriate clothing and footwear on their session day, as these will take part whatever the weather. Your child's class teacher will tell you what day the children will be participating.
